Website Goals

Welcome to the fourth rendition of my website. As my photography has evolved, so has my website. Both have improved, I hope.

The goal of this website is to archive my progress as an amateur photographer.  All photographs in the image galleries have been taken by me except as noted. The wedding photos, obviously, were taken by others. I have my friend Paul and my brother to thank for inspiring me to take up photography as a hobby.  My halcyon days are those which are filled with the company of my wife, our friends and family, and, of course, Zoe, our dog. ( I would have used "halcyon" without the "e" for the web-address, but that was already taken.)

All components of this website have been designed by me with the use of Macromedia's Dreamweaver 8, XML Flash Slideshow v.2, Lucky Monkey Design's incredible program: KoolMoves, and, of course the greatest program ever created: Adobe Photoshop CS2.

Thank you visiting my website and I hope you enjoy the pictures I have taken.

The Legend

In Greek mythology, Halcyone was the daughter of Aeolus and wife of Ceyx.  According to legend, when her husband drowned, heart-broken Halcyone threw herself into the sea.  Out of pity the gods brought them both back to life and changed them into kingfishers or halcyons.  In a gesture of love, Zeus forbade the winds to blow seven days before and seven days after the winter solstice, the breeding season of the halcyon. The expression “halcyon days” comes from this myth and figuratively means a time of peace and tranquility.
